Naturopathic medicine can treat any disease, we just do it naturally
Here are some common issues we treat here at Restoration Health:
Thyroid Health
One of the most common reasons why patients seek alternative medicine is for thyroid issues. Many conventional doctors don’t recognize subclinical thyroid disease, which leaves patients having symptoms and no answers for relief.
We look at thyroid problems with a much more comprehensive blood panel, as well as addressing the cofactors that come with it, including adrenal, hormone, and digestive factors.
Adrenal Health
Our adrenal glands sit on top of our kidneys and are our "fight or flight" glands. They produce cortisol in response to stress. In a healthy person, the cortisol levels return to normal after the stressor. However, in our high stress lifestyles, our adrenals are never allowed to relax. At some point they get fatigued and are unable to keep up and we crash.
Adrenal fatigue can cause intense fatigue, weight gain, sleep issues, dizziness, depression and more. It can also aggravate other conditions like thyroid and hormone issues.
We can help with:
Cortisol testing

Vitamin IV's

Bio-Identical Hormones
Hot flashes, decreased libido, night sweats…all symptoms of menopause. Though, technically not a disease, menopause can be just as troublesome and uncomfortable as one. The average age is 55, but many women start pre-menopause as early as 42. This can mean 10 years of undue suffering.
Until a few years ago, the current treatment for hot flashes and other symptoms was estrogen replacement with synthetic estrogens. Since there can be an increased cancer risk with estrogen replacement, many women are turning to natural solutions for menopause.
The wonderful thing about complementary medicine is that we believe the body can heal itself. Our job is the find the cause of the problem, stimulate the body to heal, and remove the obstacles to healing.
Although the hot flashes are the most common symptom of menopause, they are not the biggest risk. When women go through menopause, their risk for heart disease, osteoporosis, and dementia rises substantially. Natural medicine can also help address
these risks and prevent them from becoming a reality.
We use a combination of many our alternative medicine tools to bring relief of the symptoms of menopause as well as prevent
further disease from occurring.
Herbal and nutritional supplements to address the hormonal imbalance
Nutritional supplements to support the heart, bones and brain
Diet and exercise routine to optimize your health
Natural, bio-identical hormones
Menopause doesn't have to mean undue suffering. Let us help you stay healthy.
Digestive Issues
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common gastrointestinal disorder that sometimes causes significant discomfort even though it is not a serious threat. Typical symptoms include abdominal bloating and soreness, gas and alternating diarrhea and constipation. People with IBS are more likely than others to have backaches, fatigue and several other seemingly unrelated problems.
There is some new research that points to bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine to be a cause of IBS. Called SIBO, bacteria overgrow in the small intestine and create lots of gas and bloating. It also decreases the absorption of nutrients and creates inflammation which can lead to “leaky gut”
Digestive issues are one of the most important things to address, not just for the specific discomfort that they present, but also because the gut is the foundation of our health. We can trace many of our chronic diseases to a dysfunction in the intestinal tract.
We treat gastrointestinal disorders with comprehensive protocols, that include dietary changes, removal of food sensitivities, herbs, stool testing and more.
Can you treat Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus naturally?
Yes, you can treat rheumatoid arthritis and lupus naturally. Rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus are two common auto-immune diseases. Auto-immune means our own body is attacking itself and that leads to many symptoms including fatigue and pain. Since it is our immune system that is creating the inflammation, our focus is to work on the immune system naturally with diet changes and supplements.
Our goal with rheumatoid arthritis and lupus is to decrease the inflammation and stop the immune system from attacking. There are many herbs and nutritional supplements that can aid in this process.
Our diet can also heavily affect how our immune system responds in auto-immune disease. Sometimes wheat and dairy can trigger our immune system. Sometimes the nightshade family can set off our immune system as well. A good way to see if something you are eating is contributing to the inflammation in your body is a food sensitivity test. These tests look specifically at your immune system and how it reacts to 90-180 different foods.
And, since 80% of our immune system is in our gut, looking at gut health will be imperative to treating your rheumatoid arthritis or lupus holistically. It is very common to have an overgrowth of common bacteria in our intestines that create inflammation. If your immune system is constantly fighting against bacteria, it can get confused and then starts to attack our own cells. A simple stool test can give us so much information about our intestinal microbiome and how much inflammation is in there.
A Healthy approach to Cardiovascular Issues
Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the world, significantly more than cancer. And yet, conventional medicine really only has one tool: statin drugs. There is so much more to cardiovascular disease than high cholesterol and so many more healthy options to treating it.
Your doctor really only looks at one marker in your blood: LDL. This is the “bad” cholesterol. The current model of cardiology is to reduce your LDL and that will reduce your chance of heart disease. However, this is an old model that doesn’t really reflect current scientific understanding. 50% of people who have a heart attack have normal cholesterol levels. That should tell us something about our current thinking.
Treating cardiovascular disease naturally involves looking at inflammation and the body as a whole. If your blood sugar is elevated that is a huge risk for cardiovascular disease. If you have digestive issues that can be a big cause for inflammation. And, for us women, going through menopause and not getting on some form of estrogen replacement is also a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
There are a lot of things that we can do to lower your cholesterol naturally, and keep your inflammation down. More comprehensive testing is available to us now to look at inflammation and the health of your heart. There is also more imaging available to see if you actually have plaque buildup in your arteries before starting you on statins.
